If you have ever received this error message that says, “This person isn’t available right now” and prevents you from contacting with a particular person on Facebook or Facebook Messenger. Here’s a guide to provide you with easy methods to completely fix this issue.

But before getting in to solutions let’s in the first place take a note of reasons which might trigger this error to happen.

Reasons behind the ‘This person isn’t Available’ Error on Facebook?

There could be a hell lot of reasons which may result in this error to occur on your Facebook. The main triggers are listed as under:

  • You are blocked on Facebook or Facebook Messenger by the person you want to contact.
  • The person you are trying to reach might have deactivated or deleted their account.
  • Accumulated or corrupted data on app cache

Having known the reasons for getting the “This person isn’t available right now”, let’s move on towards understanding the methods to fix this issue on Facebook.

Method#1: Check if you’re Blocked

In majority of cases the main cause of receiving this error is due to the other person having blocked you on Facebook. So first and foremost you must look into the matter to find out whether you are being blocked or not? To confirm you need to take the following steps:

  • Launch the Messenger application on your mobile and go to the search bar provided at the top.
  • Type and enter the name of the person whom you want to contact.
  • Now find and select the person’s ID from the search results and tap it.
  • Type any text in the conversation box that opens up, and the click “Send”.
  • Check if you get to see any message popping up to assure whether you are blocked or not.

Method#2: Check for the Account Status of The Person

Verifying Deactivated Account: If the person whom you are trying to look for has deactivated the Facebook account but not the messenger profile, then you may get to see this error on your screen. To verify whether the person has deactivated his personal account or not, you need to log into the Facebook, go to the search bar and then type in the name of that person. If you cannot find the person’s ID in the search results, it confirms that the account is deactivated.

Verifying Disabled Account: In case where the other person’s account contravenes Terms and Conditions of Facebook due to performing acts such as the promotion of unfair conduct, harassment, mocking, using fake names and so on. Such accounts are likely to get disabled and you see this error message. For confirming the same, repeat the process as above (mentioned for verifying deactivated account). If you won’t locate the personal profile for that person, it clearly indicates that the specific account has been disabled.

Verifying Deleted Account: The thirdpossibility is a deleted account. It might happen when the user has deleted the personal Facebook account and as a result of that you are left with this error message showing up. Thus you must check for and confirm about the other person’s account status and verify whether it has been deleted permanently or is still in existence.

Method#3: Log-In with an Alternate Facebook ID

The most likely chance of encountering this error is the fact that the other person has blocked you on Facebook. If that is the case then you can verify it by simply searching for the person’s profile using an Alternate ID or someone else’s Facebook page.

Say for instance, if you have some other Facebook account try using that account to locate the said person or you can ask your friend or sibling to search for that person’s Facebook ID. If the results display the credentials of the person and their respective profile, it becomes obvious that the other has blocked you on Facebook and you no longer can contact them on the platform until they unblock you.

Method#4: Monitor and Change Your Account Settings

At times, the error may also appear if you have blocked that person on Facebook. To verify if that’s true in your case just log in to your Facebook profile, head to the menu, and select “Settings”. Thereafter click on “Account Settings” and then select the option called “Blocking”. It will list outthe people whom you have blocked on Facebook, and if the name of the said person appears on this list just click on the “Unblock” button to fix the “This person isn’t available right now” issue.

Method#5: Clean-up the Cache Data

There’s quite a possibility that you are getting this error on your mobile due to accumulated app cache data. To clear the cache you need to follow the steps given below:

  • Go to the device “Settings”.
  • Locate and click the “Apps” option to open it.
  • Now from the list of “Recently Opened Apps” provided at the top of the screen, tap on “Messenger”.
  • Next select “Storage” and tap on “Clear Cache”.

This will remove the data saved in the Messenger cache and hopefully it will resolve “this person isn’t available right now” problem.

Method#6: Wait for Facebook Profile Upgradation

Probably Facebook upgrading the account of the person whom you are trying to contact is one more reason why you are encountered with this error message. If Facebook profile upgradation process is on, you can reassure it by making a search for a few more other profiles on Facebook. When you get the same message prompting in those cases as well, the only way left is to wait for some hours and then make a search back again.

Method#7: Report the Problem

If the problem still persist even after you have tried the aforesaid methods to resolve the issue, it is finally the time to report this problem on Facebook. To report this problem you need to perform following steps:

  • Log in to your account on Facebook and click on your profile icon provided at the top-right.
  • Go to “Help and Support” and then click “Report a Problem”. (Now just follow the on-screen instructions to report your error message on Facebook.)
  • Once you have submitted the report wait for a reply from Facebook.
