What is RAM on a Computer??

In a computer RAM stands for Random Access Memory.

RAM is a form of computer memory that can be read and change in any order

Computer RAM  is essentially short term memory where data is stored as the processor needs it.

RAM is the hardware in a computing device where the operating system, application programs and data in current use are kept

RAM is the main memory of the computer. The data in RAM is retained as long as the computer is on, but it is lost when the computer is turned off.

RAM is physically small and stored in microchips. It is also small in terms of the amount of data it can be stored.

RAM comes in two primary forms :  DRAM and SRAM

Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM)

DRAM stores each bit of data in a memory cell. Usually consisting of a tiny capacitor and transistor

Static Random Access Memory (SRAM)

SRAM is a type of Random access memory that retains data bits in its memory as long as the computer is on.
