What is metadata??

Metadata is the set of data which describes and gives information about other data.

The metadata can be categorized into three different types. Which are:

Descriptive Metadata

These types of metadata can include title, author, and subject.

Administrative Metadata

These types of metadata can include technical, preservation, rights, and uses.

Structural Metadata

These types of metadata are used in machine processing and describe the relationship among the various parts of resources.

The common elements of metadata are title, creator, date, Type (nature), Rights of the resources.

Author, date created, data modified and file size are examples of basic metadata

Metadata is used for unstructured data too such as ,images, video, web pages, spreadsheets, etc
